Who is using Greensboro greenways and trails and who is not? GuilfordBoomers.org and Senior Resources are supporting a research
project in partnership with UNCG to determine a demographic profile of
walkers and "enjoyers" in the park system.
Greensboro has a network of trails that offers a variety of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors while being physically active. The trails are located in urban and natural settings, and can be found in neighborhood and regional parks, open spaces and around the City's lakes. The project will answer important questions like 1. Who uses the greenways? Who does not? 2. What are the barriers to seniors using the trails? And what are the barriers for UNCG students? 3. Are people with disabilities able to access the greenway system? 4. What would be the ideal activities to include for these age groups and ability groups? If you would like to help manage and administer the study, please call Ellen Whitlock of Senior Resources at 373.4816. Or, Dr. Linda Buettner of UNCG, 334-4131. You'll want to attend a joint meeting of research students and Senior Resources, February 24 at 2:00 pm in the Joyner Room of Elliot Union on the UNCG campus.
