The Senior Wheels Medical Appointment Transportation Program relies on community volunteers to drive Guilford County's frail senior citizens (age 55+) to local medical appointments. The participating seniors require transportation assistance for a variety of reasons that include: visual and minor physical limitations and the lack of local family members who are available to assist them. Many of the riders are no longer able to drive and need this transportation to manage their health-care needs. This service helps them to remain independent in their homes/residences.
