You’re not alone. In North Carolina there are 177,442 children living in grandparent-headed households. GuilfordBoomers.org and Senior Resources of Guilford offer a unique support service for grandparent-parents.
“Grandparents Raising Grandchildren” offers you and other relatives, age 55 and older, who act as parents, a variety of resources including support group meetings, resource information, referrals for assistance, quarterly newsletters and an annual retreat.
Lunch is provided for all participants at support group meetings, where topics include family law, advocacy, child custody, stress and behavior management, nutrition and fitness, working with schools, homework help and planning for the future.
“Grandparents Raising Grandchildren” is a collaboration of Senior Resources of Guilford and the YWCA in Greensboro and High Point.
